MEC Smart Series Clay Target Machines

Not mechanically inclined but through the years tried getting a machine with issues up and running.  Not always successful.  Help is on the way!

MEC has developed a device that does the following:

LED indicator screen displays machine status.

Includes a lifetime target counter along with a resettable counter to track machine usage.

Displays ARMED when trap is ready to fire and SAFE when trap is cleared.

Fault codes display if the trap has a malfunction which can be viewed in the detailed manual.

Built in Battery Voltage Readout: machine will automatically turn off when voltage drops below 9V to prevent machine damage.

Smart Series is also available as a kit which can be retrofitted on preexisting MEC models and competitor's brand machines.

New York / Canada Port of Entry Information

I cross at various crossing into Canada from New York and on return. Some of the smaller crossings have winter hours and summer hours so check before you travel.

I observed some not so friendly hours during COVID.  Travel came to a standstill and hours adjusted accordingly. Hours have been returning to normal and the U.S. recently announced they were adjusting hours to reflect Canadas.

Most of the bridges have between a $3 and $4 toll. You can pay in either currency. Paid $3 and $3.25 at the ones I've used.

Niagara Area Border Crossing

Peace Bridge

Rainbow Bridge

Whirlpool Rapids Bridge

Lewiston-Queenston Bridge

Below is a listing of New York/Canada Ports of Entry.  To the right of "/" is the name used by Canada.

Thousand Islands Bridge

Ogdensburg-Prescott International Bridge

Seaway Bridge

Fort Covington / Dundee

Trout River

Jamieson Line – PERMANENTLY CLOSED

Chateauguay / Herdman

Churubusco / Franklin

Cannon Corners / Covey Hill

Mooers / Hemmingford

Champlain / Lacolle

Overton Corners (276) / Lacolle 221

Rouses Point

Updated hours as announced by Quebec

Churubusco U.S. Hours of Operation – 8:00AM – 4:00PM (EST), Seven Days Week

When departing Canada, you can enter the U.S. at the Churubusco crossing. They close the gates at 3:30pm, not 4pm as listed.  I arrived one day as they were closing the gates at 3:30pm. Was told they do the days paperwork after 3:30pm. You can't enter Canada at that location (Jamieson Line) as the Canadian station is closed.

Keep an eye on Canadian holidays.  Easily add two hours to crossing time.

NCSC - Spring Warm Up 5 Stand Update

Thanks to all those that have registered for our upcoming shoot on the 22nd!  If you plan to attend, I suggest registering soon as we're already about 2/3 full.  There are spots left on most squads, though.

As mentioned in my earlier email we will be holding a 100 bird main event, shot on 2 fields.  And there will be a separate 50 bird "Fluff" event as well.  I neglected to mention in my earlier email that the "Fluff" event is also a 12ga event.  Of course, as in any 12ga event, you can shoot a subgauge gun if you'd like.  Both events will be NSCA registered, but we welcome "Hunter" class shooters who are not NSCA members.

I also neglected to mention in my earlier email that Art will be manning the grill so you can have a burger or dog before, between, or after your rounds.

The Club is now open on Wednesdays from 12:00 noon to dusk if you would like to come out and tune up for the shoot, or just blow off some mid week steam.

If you would like to register, please visit Score Chaser at the following link.  Even if you think you've already registered, it may be a good idea to follow the link and make sure you see your name on the Entrant list.  We've had a few people show up on shoot days, thinking they were registered, only to find out that wasn't the case.  Sometimes we can squeeze them in, sometimes not.  I'm also happy to confirm your registration if you want to send me an email.  In any case, here's that registration link:

We hope to see you on the 22nd!

Shoot Trophies & Awards Updated

I updated the Awards & Trophies web page.  Adding "All American Woodworking & Awards" and deleting several who either merged or went out of business.

The purpose of the page is to list businesses who either make or sell items that could be used as awards or recognitions.
