We are looking for volunteer referees, free lunch.

The main differences between “Sporting & Supersporting”

  • Each station has 4 traps (1-2-3-4).

  • 1st shooter can view each Single Target 2 times but NOT the Double/Simo or the Report presentations.

  • Each competitor completes the menu followed by the next competitor.

Example of a Supersporting Menu.

Trap 2 – Single target

Trap 3 – Single target

Trap 4 – Single target

Trap singles @ 2023 Quebec Provencial Trap Shoot @ Vallyefield

This is the equivalate of a State shoot.  All shooters' members of the ATA.

All week was told it was going to rain.  It didn't. High humidity. A haze from Canadian fires.

Desk ran smoothly.

Good turnout. Didn't see any machine or speaker issues.

Canadians love Black Rim targets.  When I used to shoot registered skeet, they would order regular orange targets at the Montreal Club for the Skeet Canadian, as that is what American shooters in attendance wanted.  Before Canada started charging to bring a firearm into the country, not uncommon to have a couple squads or more of American shooters in attendance.

The club has been using a vender for lunch. The Huntingdon Club has also been using them. Highly recommend. The $8 Canadian in US funds is $6.

Didn't take a photo but the club expanded parking.

Video and Photos.

A long weekend!

Friday

2023 Woodcock Invitational Skeet (NSSA), Club de Tir de Valleyfield  (St-Stanislas-de-Kostka, Québec)

Saturday

115th Vermont State Championship Trap Shoot, Montpelier Gun Club (Berlin, Vermont)

Sunday

2023 Roue du Roy Classic Sporting Clay Tournoi, Club la Roue du Roy (Hemmingford, Quebec)

Thunderstorm on my drive to Valleyfield.  Doing 20mph in a 55mph. No rain while I was at the club. The club is back from the dead as far as registered skeet goes.  A full house or close to it. Two, three years ago lucky to see a full squad. Doubles event ran smoothly.

Rain at the Montpelier shoot.  A few times I thought it was going to stop but it didn't. I'm told a few shooters sat out Saturday.  I made an ammunition buy at the shoot. A fender who advertises in the shoot program sells not only ammunition, but reloading supplies.

A lot of walking at the sporting clays shoot.  Went out twice without a cart as they had two start times. I was dragging at the end of the day. Going to have to rethink that going out twice. Someone did offer to rent me a cart in the afternoon, but I had already made the walk and I only had a few more stations to hit.

Various gun vendors at the shoot. You could try any gun displayed, on the skeet field.

Annual Vermont State Warm Up Shoot Flyer @ Underhill

NCSC - Father's Day 5 Stand RESULTS!

Well, the weather yesterday wasn't...  shall we say...  "perfect"!  But thank you to everyone that came out to shoot the event.  We kept you (mostly) dry for the main event and a number of shooters braved the rain or snuck in the Fluff event between showers.  In the end, Bob Howard won the main event with an 88 and Dan Beaupre won the Fluff with a 49.  All scores are now up on Score Chaser at the following link:

SCORES

Thanks also to all of our volunteers who helped with setup, registration, pulling and scoring, etc.  Our shoots don't run themselves, but we work hard to make them run smoothly.

We will put up the Score Chaser registration and send a notification soon, but you can mark your calendars for our next shoot on July 15th.  We hope to see you then!

June 11th Visit @ Barre

Barre Fish & Game Club (Barre, Vermont) - 2023 Support Your 2nd Amendment Rights Skeet Shoot

I want to say the last time I shot skeet at the club (and my wife) was in the 90's.  Two separate NSSA registered skeet events. The club only had NSSA for one year.

Club and fields (2) in excellent condition.

50 Targets. Rounds of singles and a round of doubles. I like that format when you have a limited number of fields.  Moves the shoot along.

Didn't see any obvious issues with targets or machines.

Had a sausage sandwich with all the trimmings for lunch.

The 2nd Amendment shoot is an annual event in support of the state's Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs.

The day before I was at Club Pionnier in Quebec. They were holding an event to support The Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights.

Two clubs in different countries holding a shoot for associations that support gun rights. Two clubs. Two countries. Not one unlawful act with a firearm!

Shooters from a couple of Vermont clubs I expected to see, passed on the shoot.

June 10th visit @ Club Pionnier

No issues crossing the border.  The person working the border asked where the wife was?  I guess we've made more than a few visits this year. We know the regulars, or they know us.

Last time I visited the club was in 2010. GPS took me straight to the club (last time no GPS).  Traffic was running smoothly in the tunnel under the Saint Lawerence that I used, but noticed only one east bound lane was open. In 2010 on my return, the tunnel was closed because of an accident,

The first rotation was almost done when I arrived.

Registration looked like it was being run smoothly.

Lots of smiles and everyone having a good time.

The club has no membership fee.  One shooting rate for all.

Hotdogs, chips and soda for lunch.

I've been going back in forth on what camera to use. This shoot and a shoot at the Barre club on Sunday settled the debate. Lost some good shots but needed real-world comparison.

Didn't stay for the prize draw.

Forty extra minutes on the drive home.  Huge traffic backup at the tunnel. Drove south to a bridge but city traffic and stop lights.

I'm thinking stay on 40 and cut east on 15 to Champlain Bridge.  Map program says 42 mins.  The tunnel route is 38 minutes. In theory I won't get caught in city traffic.

Women Shooting Vest

A recent inquiry on shooting vest for women.  I maintain a web page that list a number of links that not only list companies that sell vest, but various other types of shooting gear. Also, posted are YouTube videos given expect advice to women shooters.

June 1st Visit - La Roue du Roy

90 degrees the forecast. Mow the lawn or go shooting? Departed for the club (La Roue du Roy) at 8:15am. They open at 9am.

Back course has eight stations. Minimum of eight machines per station.
Club uses keys instead of cards but same concept. Two keys at once and you can throw any combination. Great practice!
More than eight machines, use a 5-stand/FITASC controller.
My camera let me pan the field so I could show all machines on one photo (compressed). Three fields in all.
* Mario says the tower will be back in operation soon.
