2024 March Visit @ Amelia Shotgun Sports

We shot the new "orange" 14 station course @ Amelia Shotgun Sports (Yulee, FL) today. It's broken into three sections due to land availability. 1-5, 6-8, 9-14.

We found stations one through three the hardest then it moderated based on our ability.

The club placed three orange stations on the clubs two skeet fields. Standalone machines. Not using the skeet nor trap machines. Don't know how this setup will impact anyone who wants to shoot skeet or trap.

The third leg of the orange course replaced the short beginner's course and then some. A beginner's course is no longer available. Back in the day they used to send new shooters to the beginner's course before they hit the main course (moved things along).

The original 14 station course no longer has two stands per station, nor three machines per. We shot both courses.

Non-member rate $0.50 per target. $30 Golf Cart.

Mar 2024 visit @ Bradford Sportsmen’s Farm

Bradford Sportsmen’s Farm (Graham, FL).  $0.60 a target (non-member). $40 cart rental. Water on both courses.

We shot the West and North course.  

The club had not changed target presentations on the north from what was seen at the Florida Challenge.  We shoot LM.  Four or five stations on the north I almost put in modified just to see what type of hits I get on the long birds, especially on a couple of midis I saw.

Road was shut down just before the bridge we needed to cross to get home. Major accident. After 20 minutes we detoured to Palatka. Crossed the bridge there.  The backtracking made for a long day.

Amelia Shotgun Sports February 2024 Visit

Amelia Shotgun Sports. 75 degrees. First visit in two years. A&B stands on 13 of the 14 stations. All stations had three machines.

I'm a founding member which gets me life membership, discount shooting and discount cart rental.

The club is north of Jacksonville, almost on the Georgia border.

NCSC (Vt) March Schedule

 On  Saturday, March 2nd, we have a 100 bird scored fun shoot. The current forecast looks to be fairly good and on the mild side of things. There will be hot chili and cookies there to enjoy. If you're interested in participating reach out to Art via email(artkotavt@gmail.com)

On Saturday, March 23rd, we have our first registered shoot of the 2024 season. There will be a 100 bird main event ($65), as well as a 50 bird "fluff"($35). The be a email coming soon with the link to register for the shoot on Score Chaser and the fluff is a walk on event.

Palm Beach County Club Visit - 22 Feb 2024

Photos of the Palm Beach County Club (Florida). Well maintained course. "B" class shooters and above would get bored quickly. Nature of the beast for a county/state run club. All an all we had a good time. No machine or target issues.

$21 cart rental. $.40 a target. Had to watch a 12-minute safety video (first time visitor). The person in front of me was renting a shotgun. He was told $20 (all day) and had to be an American and 21 years of age.

Yes, that's an alligator swimming in the water at station #2.

A number of skeet/trap fields. A good number International Skeet and Bunker fields. I suspect at some point a World Cup match will be hosted.

Plenty of ammunition for sale. We brought are own.

Quail Creek Sporting Ranch visit - Feb 21, 2024

 We visited Quail Creek Sporting Ranch (Fl). Three-hour drive. Twenty-one miles from I-95 to the entrance gate. $.55 nonmember rate per target. $30 cart rental.

Some machines on the Red course out of targets. White and Blue course closed (was not informed when we signed in).

Tried to shoot the Blue. No target. No target. Stupid me. Tried three stations : (

Ran into a club member who said the course was closed. Be prepared. If you push the button you pay for targets, target or no target.

Did shoot the "closed" White without issue. There were several others shooting the course and one person loading machines.

I called them on it when we went in. Did not go well. Desk would not owe up to failure to inform. The young lady insisted she told us. I may be old, but I think after a three-hour drive, I would remember being told two of the three courses we came to shoot were not available. If not me the wife would remember as she had been standing right next to me when we signed in.

Lady seemed to be upset when we told her we shot the closed White Course. Insisted she told us both courses were closed. I suspect she did not want to own up to her mistake in front of the other person working with her. Left a bad taste. Never visited before. Don't ever plan on visiting again.

Please note, we are pre-squadding 5-Stand on the June, July, & Sept shoots. We are also pre-squading the Main Event for the VT State Shoot. If you don't request a full squad, shooters will be added in as received. Also please note, when you select a time slot, it is just a request. I must actually go in and complete the squading. It may take a week or so before you see your squading on your registration form.

Saltwaters Shooting Club @ St. Augustine (Jan 2024)

Saltwaters Shooting Club @ St. Augustine. 76 degrees when we arrived. 80 degrees when we departed. Nice breeze on the course keeping the temperature manageable. Club always has water on the course. Much appreciated. Two courses. The 2nd course is what you want to practice on if going to a shoot.

Underhill (Vt) Sporting Clays 2024

Happy New Year to you all. I hope this note finds you well, and that 2024 will be better than 2023 was for you.

I thought I would give you the shoot dates for this year, so that you can get them on your calendar. We have a total of 5 events planned of which two of them are two-day shoots, so in all we will have 7 days of registered clays.

We will begin the year with the Cabin Fever on Sat May 4th, followed by Underhill Sporting on Saturday June 1st. In July we will have the VT State Warm Up on Sat 7/13, and then on Sun 7/14 we will host the first CAN-AM 100. We are still in the planning stages for the CAN-AM, but our thoughts are to choose the winner by comparing the top 5 scores from Canada and the US, and then perhaps a shoot off.

In August we have the Annual Memorial Shoot on Sat 8/17 followed by the VT State Super Sporting Championship on Sun 8/18.

We will end the year with the Leaf Peeper on 9/28.

All of these shoots will be on Scorchaser. We don't know yet when Tuesday sporting will start because that is weather dependent.

I'm excited about this year at Underhill, because we now have 4 members that are graduates of Anthony Matarese's target setting school and they look forward to throwing you some excellent target presentations.

2024 Lost Target Schedule

 Looking at video/photos at five clubs I didn't visit in 2023.  First on the list is a club in Florida. May be a sixth depending on how the schedule works out.  Some clubs don't hold registered shoots and only have one (maybe two) fun shoots a year and sometimes dates conflict.
