Loaning out club membership card

Received this from a Florida club I belong.

"The loaning out of club member badges to a nonmember is strictly prohibited, if caught on club property with a loaned-out badge it will be confiscated, and member will have to come before the club board for its return and face disciplinary actions….
Trespassing on club property with a firearm is a felony!"

The club's membership card also accesses the entrance gate.

Can you live with the consequences of lending out your membership card?

NCSC (Williston) Registered Fall 5 Stand - Saturday 10/14/23

We're going to go one more round this year!  This will be our last registered shoot of 2023.  The format will again be a 100 target Main Event, shot on 2 fields, with a 50 target 12ga "Fluff" side event.  This will be an NSCA registered shoot, but Hunter class shooters are welcome, as always.  Registration will be handled through Score Chaser at the following link:

Please let me know if you have any issues registering.

Art will fire up the grill to service burgers and dogs for lunch, included with your shoot registration.  He will also run the 50/50 raffle that has become a tradition at our shoots.

Please let me know if you have any questions and we hope to see you at the club on the 14th!

Thank you,

NY State Ammunition Background Check

NY State Police are now conducting backgrounds checks for purchases or transfer of ammunition (also firearms).

The state charges $2.50 at point of purchase for the ammunition background check conducted.
Have no idea if delays are being experienced or what is the expected time for a check to be approved/disapproved. How long are you expected to hang out at Walmart when you purchase ammunition?
State police website as of today has not been updated. No FAQ. No information period on the new requirements.
How do you handle a youth shooting team? Visitors to the club from out of state? Six people show up to shoot on Sunday at your club and want to purchase ammunition. What is the expected wait time?
What a mess!

Diabities and clay target shooting

 Not a doctor....

If you have a sensor easy enough to check your numbers.  If not, you're doing the finger pin prick.

You want a reading of 100 or higher immediately before starting the event.  If at 100 or lower a good chance of crashing during the shoot.  The more you exert yourself the faster your numbers are going to drop. With a sensor you can check after every 25 targets (skeet/trap) or every four or five stations in sporting. No sensor.  Preset your kit for a quick check.

The higher the numbers the less checking you have to do.  Some are more sensitive than others.

You know your body. You know when you're getting ready to crash. Set the minimum level you're willing to go before you take additional carbs.  But anything under 100 is going to get you in the long run.

It doesn't take many carbs to make it right.  A low carb protein bar in your shoot bag should be all it takes. In any case whatever you take it will be 15 minutes before it takes effect so don't let your number get too low before you take action.

29 Jul Bulls-Eye Shoot Cancelled

The July 29th shoot at Bulls-Eye Sporting Center in Vermont has been cancelled.  Please pass this information along to any of your shooting friends that generally attend, just in case they don't get email.  For those of you that may not be aware.  During the torrential rain that Vermont experienced a couple weeks ago, Dave and his family were impacted by floods waters that severely damaged the shooting course and their home.  They are currently working to get their world back to normal.  We will send along updates on future shoots as things unfold.  In the meantime, the sporting community sends their best to the family.

Montpelier Gun Club Vermont Devastating Flood

 ATA Facebook Page

The Montpelier Gun Club Vermont has experienced devastating flooding. The club was able to remove the Pat Traps on Sunday but the club house and trap houses were inundated with flood waters from the Winooski River. The shot curtain and/or the poles are also likely damaged but they will not know until the flood waters recede. If you’ve never shot at this club you’ve miss out on good people who love shooting trap and go out of their way to host a good shoot.

This will likely be a financially devastating event for the club without assistance since insurance will likely not cover the flood loss.

Please consider donating to help rebuild the club. Please makes checks payable to the Montpelier Gun Club and note your donation. Mail to Box 664, Montpelier, VT 05601. This is the address of the VT Trapshooting Association. Remember “There go I but for the grace of God.”

Update via Don Whiton.

Things looking much better today than yesterday. It had been reported at one point in the storm the water was up over the top of the clubhouse. There will be much work to be done once we're able to get in there.
